Creating a new legacy for Sandbach School
What is Project350?
Celebrating Sandbach School’s 350th anniversary, Project350 will bring together pupils, former pupils, staff and the wider community through a year of special events during 2027.
The programme will include concerts, sporting fixtures such as rugby and cricket matches, and a special edition of the school’s famous Road Relay. This unique event will feature the traditional inter-house competition alongside a collective challenge to complete 350 laps of the course, with former pupils from across the generations invited to take part.
The fundraising aspect of the project will continue beyond the anniversary year and throughout the duration of the school’s rebuilding work.
Project350 is being led by the Old Sandbachians Association, which has represented the school’s alumni for more than a century. Today, former pupils can be found across the UK and around the world, building successful careers in business, industry, public service, education, sport and the armed forces, while maintaining a strong connection to their old school.

Project350 is not just about celebrating a milestone. It aims to honour the school’s rich history while investing in its future.
The anniversary coincides with the most significant redevelopment in Sandbach School’s history. Backed by a £67 million government investment, the project will transform the campus with new teaching facilities, a theatre and performance space, music and catering facilities, a state-of-the-art sports hall and swimming pool, alongside the restoration of the historic Gilbert Scott School House. Many of these facilities will also benefit the wider community.
Project350 provides an opportunity for the Sandbach School family to play its part in shaping the next chapter of the school’s story.
This is a landmark moment in the history of the school and an opportunity to positively influence the education of many generations to come.

What are the funds being raised for?
While the government-funded rebuilding programme will deliver outstanding new buildings, there are many important enhancements that fall outside its scope.
Funds raised through Project350 will help provide additional facilities, equipment and opportunities that will further enrich school life for current and future generations of pupils.
The campaign will also support initiatives that make Sandbach School’s wider educational experiences accessible to all. This includes helping pupils from disadvantaged families take part in international visits, cultural experiences and other opportunities that broaden horizons and create lifelong memories.
Every contribution to Project350 will help ensure that Sandbach School’s legacy continues to inspire and benefit generations of pupils for years to come, as well as the many members of the local community who benefit from the school’s facilities.
The Old Sandbachians’ Association has been supporting the school for over 125 years and is delighted is continue this tradition and to be playing a key role in celebrating the anniversary of the school and supporting the changes that will see it thrive for the next phase of its history.
